Client Reveal: #TheVenturesProject

Well it’s been a while since we’ve popped on here but today we wanted to finally share another project reveal! Earlier this spring we had the opportunity to work with Landrex Ventures, a young professional land developer who wanted to refresh their bright but dated new office.

The space was great for their team but the current flooring, paint and tired lighting left us feeling like a bit of a refresh was in order.

The Ask:

To brighten and update this space on a tight budget and an even tighter timeline. With a request for a clean slate, lots of plants, personal touches and space to allow for growth we had our work cut out for us.

The Plan:

New flooring, bright paint, updated lighting and spraying out the ceiling were the immediate requirements. A magnetic whiteboard wall along one whole side of the common space is the perfect solution to add as a backdrop for projector presentations while allowing for notes, brainstorming and even personalized artwork to be displayed.

Each office and the common area required furniture, artwork and personal touches. In one office we even had a request for ‘ninjas and an alligator’ which has to be the most unique request either of us have heard in our combined 14"+ years in the biz!

Tracey was able to visit the site both before and after the space refresh so you can see the dramatic before and after below!

Above - The Before:

As you can see, the space was a bit drab and dated. There was lots of potential but for a young, hip company who wanted a fun, fresh but professional work space - the current condition wasn’t going to cut it!

Below - The Plans:

The request was for a young, hip and comfortable office space that still felt professional so with our plan we wanted to have the professional basics with a few more typically residential touches. There was a big ask for lots of greenery, and personal touches throughout each room which we loved!

In Joanne’s office we wanted a fresh, feminine space that felt clean and modern with a few pops of bright color.

For Dan we wanted a slightly retro feel with the addition of the mid-century modern inspired pieces. Another favourite element - the Jason Blower prints of Edmonton!

In Ryan’s office we were tasked with pulling a room together that incorporated a putting green, an alligator and ninjas! I think you’ll see we excitedly accepted that challenge and delivered!

Both Dan and Ryan’s office also featured a bold navy accent wall that we LOVED! With all of those big and bright windows we knew we could get away with adding a bit of drama!

Hellooooo bright and spacious! Although to come are still a few more plants, small touches and a rug, you can see that the reveal is quite the change!

We painted the whole office in Benjamin Moore’s Horizon and painted the doors and trim in Benjamin Moore Gray Owl. Our biggest goal was to make this space feel fresh and bright so these soft subtle colors were perfect as the main feature and we were even able to tint our magnetic whiteboard wall in the same color! For the dark feature in the to center offices, we went with a classic favourite, Benjamin Moore’s Hale Navy.

New vinyl floor (fantastic for commercial spaces!) and rubber baseboard also majorly updated the office. As for the ceiling - we’d originally hoped to swap out the old ceiling panels for an updated look (as taking out the grid system wasn’t an option) however the cost ended up eating up too much of the tight budget. The solution- to still replace all of the lighting to LED (because lighting is always worth investing in!) & instead, spray out the whole grid ceiling system which made a MAJOR difference!

While we’d originally hoped to have a conference table made locally, our tight timeline didn’t leave that as an option but Article’s (a fave Canadian brand of ours!) Seno table in Oak was the perfect piece.

As a practical necessity to a land developer - a large map of Alberta was one of the requests from the Landrex team. Our solution - we printed a HUGE map of Alberta and mounted it to the back of a glass panel mounted to the wall. Voila! A custom map ‘whiteboard’ solution came to life!

We also ordered two beautiful wooden round shelves to hold markers, erasers and of course a bit of greenery next to the wall map also. After our original shelf order from another store arrived looking awful in person, we were in a panic to get new shelves in time for our finish date. Christiani Modern Co (on Etsy) absolutely saved the day by making the beautiful shelves you see below for us in a ridiculous rush and shipped them to us overnight so we’d have them in time! This is why we love shopping from small businesses! Side note - they make beautiful products, check them out here!

It was so wonderful to work with such a fun, young, professional business like Landrex on their exciting first office! Thanks so much for trusting us with your vision!
